Can an echocardiogram be performed on a dead person? Can you see if a dead person's heart has thickened?

Echocardiograms are simply ultrasounds of the heart. There is nothing preventing an echocardiogram on a cadaver, but if there is a reason to check out the heart post-mortem they are more likely to perform an autopsy. This physical examination of the heart will allow easier checks for cardiac hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle).
